| Hello, I'm Thomas Mellman |

I am an American citizen living outside of Munich, Germany with my wife and two kids. Because my wife is a European citizen, I have a permanent work permit for Germany. I speak (accented) German at work.
I have a Masters degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
The keywords that sum up my career best are:
I currently work at Tecways AG in Munich.
Tecways develops the MSPP mediation platform. Mediation is a function of the Telecommunications Management Network. We enable mobile telecommunication providers to utilize multiple vendors of telecommunications equipment. For example, our major customer uses our technology to integrate Alcatel, Ericsson, Huawei, and Siemens Home Location Registers in their networks.
The MSPP provides for provisioning (subscriber management) and collection (billing). I am the project manager for our provisioning product and am additionally responsible for designing and developing provisioning solutions. I work closely with our customer in southeast Asia to provide them with custom solutions.
I had worked previously at Tecways, from 1997 until 2001, but left to take an oppurtunity to design and develop UMTS features at the EWSD (MSC) switching department at Siemens AG, also in Munich. Unfortunately, that work was subsequently moved to Athens. What was left in Munich was MSC maintenance. Nevertheless, I was excited by the challenge of trying to bring modern methods to the 1980's technology still used at Siemens. Eventually, though, I became disappointed by the unwillingness there to change old ways. I left Siemens in October of 2003 and returned to Tecways.
My first assignment in Germany was a contract job at AEG Mobile Communications. There I provided C support for the SDL development of a GSM Cellular Telephone.
Before we moved to Germany, I worked in the United States at companies like Motorola and AT&T Bell Labs. I also worked in Switzerland at Wild Heerbrugg (which is now Leica).
Please see my complete resume in English or in German.
I have also provided some more details to my telecommunications experience here.
